The great hymns of the faith are not gone entirely, but they are fading from us quickly; and in their place
have emerged trite jingles that seem to promote narcissism over sound theology. But Scripture instructs us
clearly that the local church is to “…teach and admonish one another with psalm and hymns and
spiritual songs.” (Col 3:16). Singing, therefore, that is fitting for the people of God is singing in which
sound doctrine is set forth, and through which the church is admonished. To that end, great hymns of the faith
that are sung in our meetings are being gradually catalogued here in order to foster familiarity with them, and to
edify the saints who are numbered at Legacy. We hope you’ll derive benefit from them as well.
“Attend strictly to the sense of what you sing, and see that your heart is not carried away with the sound, but offered to God
continually; so shall your singing be such as the Lord will approve here, and reward you when he cometh in the clouds of heaven.” – JW
